Your dreams VS the streets.
PLEASE READ INFO BELOW !
What is it?
A script that fetches online data and semi-randomly generates something out of it.
How does it work?
- goes to Google Street View, and downloads a random picture
- applies effects to the picture
- picks a random text sample from the dreambank.net database
- displays text and pictures
What am I supposed to do?
You just press the SPACE BAR to generate screens.
Slowly, please. EMMA is downloading random pictures (in real time) from Google Street View. If sent too many requests, Google will deny access.
Colour pictures! How boring!
You are not supposed to see colour pictures. EMMA is black and white. If you see colour pictures, it means your browser is not compatible. You need a browser that supports OpenGL. I really have no idea of what that last sentence really means, so don’t ask me. What I can tell you is that EMMA works properly in Firefox 24, in Chrome 30, and does NOT work in Internet Explorer.
It worked fine for a while, and now I’m getting this screen with a cross!
This screen means Google is denying access to new pictures. This happens if you generate too many screens in a short time. You were too fast at pressing the space bar. Wait a few hours and come back.
I’m getting a white screen with the message “Sorry, we have no imagery here”
This is perfectly normal, just press SPACE again to generate another screen. Slowly. Please.
